Skomer
Nestled less than a mile off the Pembrokeshire coast is Skomer Island, internationally renowned for its seabird colonies. Whilst many people will visit during the day, the golden hours are reserved for a select few who are fortunate enough to stay overnight. When you visit Skomer Island, nothing can quite prepare you for the sheer number of Puffins lining the cliffs, frequently crossing the paths and at times waddling between your feet. Yet this island can offer so much more: Razorbills, Guillemots, Short-eared Owls, Choughs, Oystercatchers and Fulmars can be seen during the day whilst the night transforms the island as the Manx Shearwaters return in their tens of thousands to their burrows. The island is also home to Rabbits, Common Lizards, Slow Worms and a variety of gulls and small birds. The time you spend on the island will be memorable so join me and visit Skomer Island: bring plenty of memory cards as the opportunities will border on endless!
A photographic and wildlife spectacle
Whilst the Puffins are arguably the star of Skomer for many photographers, this island has so much more to offer. Nothing can quite prepare you for the sounds and atmosphere of your first night as the Manx Shearwaters return under the cover of darkness to their burrows. During the day, sitting on the edge of the cliffs watching the world go by, Gannets soar over the sea and cetaceans swim below
Suitable for all photographers
Whether you’re a seasoned professional or complete beginner to photography, Skomer is perfect for honing your skills and developing an extensive portfolio of images to be proud of. We will have plenty of time during the day to cover various concepts of photography, whether it’s settings, composition or various techniques, we’ll cover it all to ensure that you’re comfortable and ready when the shooting starts.
A small group to ensure plenty of 1-2-1 attention
With just 4 people plus myself on this trip, you will have plenty of opportunities for 1-2-1 tuition and support. Whilst we typically work and move as a group you can have the freedom to do your own thing whether that’s having a nap or spending the entire day out with the camera!
Waiting lists
Due to the nature of this tour and how quickly it books up, gift vouchers cannot be purchased. It’s strongly recommended that you contact me early to get on the waiting list and dates will be announced in early October. Places will fill on a first come, first served basis.
